Free Summer Youth Wellness Program 2026: Building Resilience in the Tahoe Basin

Are you looking for transformative, low-to-no-cost summer activities for teens in Truckee or the Tahoe Basin?

This July, Radical Recovery is proud to announce a powerful new collaboration with Crow’s Nest Ranch (CNR). Together, we are launching a Youth Summer Wellness Program specifically designed for local low-income, Indigenous, and Latinx, AI/AN adolescents ages 14–17.

In a region where high-impact outdoor recreation is often a luxury, we are breaking down barriers to ensure every teen has the opportunity to heal, move, and thrive in the mountains they call home.

The Experience: Boxing, Muay Thai, Mindfulness, Mentorship, and Lake Tahoe

Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the 2026 Summer, our cohort of 15 adolescents will trade their usual summer scene for "Mountain Movement" as a clinical tool to foster discipline and confidence through:

  • Adult Mentorship: Building healthy bonds and trust through offering mutual guidance, empathy, and shared experiences.

  • Martial Arts & Mindfulness: Developing physical and mental grit through Boxing, Muay Thai, yoga, and mindfulness sessions.

  • Alpine Exploration: Reclaiming local public lands through kayaking, hiking, climbing, and more.

FREE OR LOW COST! Sign Up Today: Limited to 15 spots - 13 still open as of 6/18/26!

This program is offered at little or no cost to qualifying families, but space is strictly limited to 13 participants to ensure high-quality, clinician-led supervision.

Priority is given to:

  • American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Youth

  • Local Latinx Youth

  • Low-income families within the Tahoe Basin

A Community Partnership for Mountain Equity

By combining the unique strengths of three local organizations, we provide a safety net of support for our participants:

  • Radical Recovery: Leading the mission for Mountain Equity, ensuring that local Latinx and low-income youth have a seat at the table and a path on the trail.

  • Crow’s Nest Ranch: Providing clinician-led expertise. Our licensed staff facilitates trauma-informed "Talking Circles," transforming outdoor adventure into a journey of internal healing.

  • Elevated Academy of Martial Arts: Championing accountability and respect by offering access to the mats and structured training to build physical resilience, mental clarity, and deep personal discipline on and off the mat.

  • Waterman’s Foundation: Breaking financial and institutional barriers by delivering accessible, low-barrier outdoor tracks to ensure every participant has the resource pipeline and community support needed to thrive in our mountain ecosystem.
