Free, All-Recovery Mountain Bike Meet-Ups in Truckee - June 27–28, 2026

The Truckee-Tahoe region is defined by its world-class trail networks, crisp alpine air, and an active outdoor culture. However, for those navigating substance use recovery, mental health milestones, or a lifestyle shift away from burnout, alcohol, and drugs, finding spaces that connect a passion for the outdoors with a supportive, active peer group can be challenging.

At Radical Recovery, we believe that lasting change happens outside the four walls of a traditional clinical environment. True wellness is action-based and lifestyle-aligned. It involves movement, nature, and the rebuilding of a vibrant, healthy lifestyle alongside your peers.

As part of our mission to build a decentralized, sober active ecosystem for the Tahoe Basin, we are officially hosting two back-to-back, beginner-to-intermediate All-Recovery Community Mountain Bike Meet-Ups on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2026. Meet us in the parking lot of each trail system for two days of community pedaling to cultivate connection while destigmatizing the reality that we are all recovering from something. Whether you are totally sober, curious about it, seeking a healthy community of humans, or a loved one of someone currently struggling, we want you to join us on the singletrack!

Healing Should Feel Like Belonging

Throw rigidity to the wind! Our meet-ups are open, low-pressure, and entirely focused on community connection. We welcome ALL local mountain humans, families, and athletes at every stage of their wellness journey.

Our guidelines are built around mutual respect and active connection:

  • Strictly Sober Nature: We request that all participants arrive completely clear-minded, leave all substances at home, and respect the supportive nature of the group space.

  • No-Drop Group Pacing: Nobody gets left behind on the trail. Our rides are guided by experienced peer leaders who ensure the pace remains comfortable, low-pressure, and focused entirely on community building rather than intense competition.

What to Bring to the Trailhead

To ensure everyone enjoys a safe, seamless morning out on the singletrack, please ensure you check off the following items before arriving:

  1. A Functional Mountain Bike: Your bike should be in good mechanical working repair (brakes functioning, chain lubed, tires properly inflated).

  2. Required Safety Gear: A properly fitted bicycle helmet is mandatory for all riders during the entire duration of the event.

  3. Hydration & Nutrition: Bring at least one full water bottle (or a hydration pack) and a light trail snack (bars, gels, or fruit).

  4. Trail Tools: If you have them, bring a spare inner tube that fits your tire size, tire levers, and a hand pump.

Removing Barriers to a Healthier Tahoe

If you're looking for something deeper than a standard talk-based meeting in a closed back room, come get out on the dirt with us. Let's shift our perspective, enjoy our local landscape, and cultivate clean resilience together.

Radical Recovery provides alternative, lifestyle-aligned solutions for the local mountain community. We believe financial constraints should never stand in the way of a healthy life, which is why we systematically remove barriers by directly billing standard PPO insurance, EPO/HMO plans, and Medi-Cal tracks.

For broader regional updates on trail conditions, maintenance projects, or advocacy work across our basin, visit our friends at the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA).
